For clients who need inpatient or residential care, our clinical team provides placement assistance — we connect you with trusted inpatient facilities across New Jersey and coordinate a smooth transition, including insurance coordination and a step-down plan to return to our programs after residential treatment.

We encourage you to call us regardless of your insurance situation. We offer self-pay rates and can explore a variety of payment options. We can also assist with connecting you to state-funded treatment resources if needed. Cost should never be the reason someone doesn't get help.

Federal parity protections generally require covered behavioral health benefits to be managed comparably to medical and surgical benefits, but they do not guarantee coverage of every service. What happens during a typical day in PHP?

You go home in the evening and return the next morning.

Will I have my own therapist?

Yes. Every client at Speranza is assigned a dedicated primary therapist who is your consistent therapeutic relationship throughout your treatment. Your primary therapist conducts your initial assessment, develops your treatment plan, sees you in individual therapy, and advocates for you within the treatment team.

Family involvement is encouraged and clinically beneficial — with your consent. We offer family therapy sessions, family education groups, and guidance for loved ones who want to understand how to support recovery. How quickly can I start treatment?

In many cases, we can conduct a clinical assessment and begin the insurance verification process on the same day you call. Most clients are able to begin treatment within 24–72 hours of their initial contact. If you have an urgent situation, please let us know and we will do everything possible to expedite the process.

What should I expect from the intake assessment?

The intake assessment is a comprehensive, confidential conversation with one of our licensed clinicians. It covers your substance use and mental health history, prior treatment experiences, current medications, medical history, family and social situation, and personal treatment goals. It typically takes 60–90 minutes and forms the basis of your individualized treatment plan.

Is everything confidential?

All information you share is protected under HIPAA and, for substance use treatment, under federal 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations — which are even stronger than standard HIPAA protections. We cannot share any information about you without your written consent, with very limited legal exceptions.
